An amazing 4 days of Golf we had last week. The Masters never disappoints and it was truly wonderful to see some amazing talent on the leaderboard. There was also a ton of talent and potential front runners that didn't even make the cut !!! Let's run through those names quick. You got DJ, Westwood, Garcia, Koepka, Day, Willett, Wolff, Kisner, Fritelli, Rory, Kuchar, Homa, Zach Johnson and my boy Bernard Langer. Those are some big names not even making the cut at the biggest tournament of the year. In additional had Bryson at +5, Horschel with a complete meltdown, Fleetwood at +5 and Adam Scott at +11. Crazy to think all those big names finished that poorly. Golf is a game of rhythm, timing, peaks and valleys. Everything didn't fall into place for them, it happens.
A lot of things fell into place for these 5 guys though. Jon Rahm, was rocking that new dad swag all week. He played great and I'm sure had some extra motivation. Jordan Spieth, wow wow wow. He is a new golfer in 2021, finishing in the top 10 five times in 8 tourneys. It's nice to see him back in form. Xander Schauffele, who melted down on 18, with a triple bogey costing himself $500k in purse money. Besides that played a great 4 days of golf. Seems to always be in the hunt and playing good golf. Laferty Daniel aka Will Zalatoris, didn't even know his name before Thursday. Kid came out guns blazing and put on a show. It was rewarding to see him not get overwhelmed by the moment and focus on his game. Finally, Matsuyama with a performance for the ages. That rain delay seemed to benefit him greatly. He came back like a new golfer and everyone else crumbled. He had it all working on Saturday and Sunday. Was in a groove, hitting great shots, making putts and stayed focused. The respect and love he has for the game is easily identified. Very happy fro him to capture the win and be the first Japanese Masters Champion.
I wish we only had to wait 4 months for the next Masters, but that was a once in a lifetime thing lol.
