The media loves Tiger when it’s convenient for them. They praise him for how close he is with Charlie and how he won the Masters after all those setbacks. They love what he's done for the game of golf and his tight relationships with JT, Rory, Jason Day etc. However, as soon as Tiger makes a misstep they are the first to bury him and drag him through the mud. It goes to show no matter how famous, influential, loved and successful you are, your prior mistakes will always resurface to make a compelling story-line.
In typical media form they revert back to all his mistakes years ago after he almost looses his life in a single car accident. Instead of focusing on if he's ok, is his family ok, they go right to was there foul play etc. Rory said it best, when talking about the medias coverage regarding the accident. Tiger Woods is a human being with a family. The first thought should have not been is Tiger up to his hold antics. The man had to be removed from the car with the goddamn jaws of life. Have some compassion for him and his family. I guess my whole rant is about how the media picks and chooses when to praise you and when to bring the past back to light. Yes, Tiger does have a past and made mistakes, but as a society why do we always focus on what as already happened instead of what is happening or what will happen. He is the greatest golfer ever, brought golf to the forefront, made America fall in love with his relationship with Charlie, showed the world you can overcome bad decisions, a strong willed man that has gone through surgery after surgery and worked hard to return to championship form, help mentor the younger generation of golfers and showed every person that if you make mistakes, own them and push forward.
We may never know what happened, or through an investigation we will finally find out the cause of the accident. Never jump to conclusion right away and suggest foul play, wait for the experts to do what they get paid to do before being an asshole. We will soon see how it all plays out.
Got nothing but love for Tiger and hope he makes a full recovery and hope his family is doign well through these hard times.
